In celebration of its transition to cityhood the new City of Johns Creek, Georgia will hold an Inauguration Ceremony Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 5 p.m. in the auditorium of Northview High School. A public reception will conclude the ceremony, followed by the city’s first City Council meeting at 7:15 p.m.
Hosted by Atlanta radio talk show host Denny Schaffer of WGST-AM, the ceremony will include the swearing-in of the city’s first elected officials, a color presentation by the Sons of the American Revolution and music by the Northview High School Chorus.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Cliff Brasher will swear-in Johns Creek Mayor-elect Mike Bodker and City Council members Randall Johnson (Post 1), Karen Richardson (Post 3), Liz Hausmann (Post 5) and Bev Miller (Post 6). (Posts 2 and 4 will be decided in a Dec. 6 run-off election. Those council members will be sworn in at a later date.)
Johns Creek Mayor-elect Mike Bodker welcomes and invites all the residents of Johns Creek to join in on the new city’s first official celebration.
“This has been a long time coming. The people of northeast Fulton County finally have a local government that can respond to their needs. I hope that you can join us as we celebrate our city’s beginning,” said Bodker.
The Inaugural Ceremony is hosted by the Committee for Johns Creek, the volunteer citizens group, which helped foster the incorporation of the new city over a nearly two-year period.
