Bill Loughrey, candidate for the Fulton County Commission District 2 At Large seat today congratulated the citizens of Milton and Johns Creek. “The people have clearly demonstrated that they will no longer tolerate the dysfunctional and harmful antics of the Fulton County Commission majority. The creation of these two new cities begins a new era of opportunity and challenge. Together with Sandy Springs, the two new cities offer the promise of local control and better services for their long-suffering citizens,” Loughrey said.
“Unfortunately, the current four to three majority on the Fulton County Commission has adopted a hostile attitude toward the new cities,” Loughrey continued. “When I am elected to the Commission that will change. That is why my candidacy is so important to the future of the county. With other Commissioners facing little or no opposition in the November election, only by my beating incumbent Rob Pitts can we change the make-up and attitude of the Commission.”
Having visited the homes of more than 18,0000 voters during this campaign, Loughrey has a good idea of what the people want. “The general public perception is that the county government is badly broken and dysfunctional. I have a plan to fix the county. We will cut property taxes by 10%. We will reform the institutions of government, regionalize funding for Grady Hospital and MARTA so other counties pay their fair share for the services they use and end the current traffic gridlock,” Loughrey stated.
