State of Georgia to Reimburse Pharmacists for Costs of Prescription Drugs for Medicare/Medicaid Dual Eligible Beneficiaries
Governor Perdue announced Tuesday that the state of Georgia will reimburse pharmacies for the costs of prescription drugs provided to dual eligible Medicare/Medicaid beneficiaries (low-income and disabled). Pharmacies will be reimbursed for dual eligible beneficiaries that have not been enrolled in a Medicare Part D plan by the federal government.

Governor Sonny Perdue signed into law today Senate Bill 84, legislation requiring the Board of Registrar office in each county to issue photo identification cards for voting purposes, free of charge. The bill passed the State Senate 32-22 and the State House 111-60.

As we begin 2006, I am excited about Georgia's future. In this session, I will work on statewide issues, as well as issues important to Alpharetta, Roswell and greater north Fulton. We need less government infringement, a lower tax burden and more local control.

The creation of the new city of Sandy Springs has taken $70 million that would have gone to Fulton County and made 2006 a difficult budget year for the county. Before the board can decide what to do with individual departments, the members must resolve whether to make cuts to balance the books, increase taxes to cover losses or dip deep into reserves.
