Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training Classes Scheduled

Fulton County Fire Department offers CERT training to teach members of neighborhoods, community organizations or workplaces basic response skills. Classes are scheduled for August 12, 19 and 26, September 9, 16 and 23, and October 14, 21 and 28. All classes are from 8:30 – 3:30 and will be held at Fire Station 12 on Medlock Bridge Road or Fire Station 8 on Old Alabama Road.

The Community Emergency Response Team concept was developed as a positive and realistic approach to emergency and disaster situations, where citizens will be initially on their own and their actions can make a difference. Through training, citizens can manage utilities and put out small fires; treat the three killers by opening airways, controlling bleeding, and treating for shock; provide basic medical aid; search for and rescue victims safely; and organize themselves and spontaneous volunteers to be effective.

I urge you to attend one of the three series of classes offered – sign up with a neighbor or co-worker! My family and I have enrolled for the October training session, and we invite you to join us! The enrollment forms are available at www.lynneriley.com

Outdoor Watering Restrictions

Fulton County residents are urged to follow water restrictions, to preserve water pressure for the protection of health and safety. New watering guidelines have been introduced in north Fulton.

Residents throughout the County must water according to their addresses, in accordance with the Drought Management Plan of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Residents with even-numbered addresses may water on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Residents with odd-numbered addresses can water on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. No watering is allowed on Friday. In North Fulton, outdoor water use is not permitted between 5 am and 8 pm daily, to ensure availability of water during peak periods.

Watering outside the guidelines puts all citizens at risk in the event of fire. Please report violations to Fulton County by calling the TELL line – (404) 730-TELL(8355).
