Approval of Amendment to Article 24.4, Water and Sewer, of the Code of Ordinances for the City of Roswell to require sub-metering. (Second Reading)

Item Summary:

As part of the Metro North Georgia Water Planning District (MNGWPD) Water Conservation Plan, the City is required to adopt an ordinance requiring multi-tenant properties to sub-meter water connections. Sub-metering allows tenants to understand their water consumption, and reduce their usage based on their actual consumption. The ordinance requires all new or substantially renovated multi-tenant or multi-family properties to install sub-meters for each unit.

 

Committee or Staff Recommendation:

On May 11, 2006 the Environmental Committee recommended approval.

 

Financial Impact:

None – the City water sales will remain the same. The City does not sell sub-meters for this purpose.
