A huge thank you goes out to the volunteers who came out to the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) on Sunday and made 60 grab bags for hurricane victims at our local shelter! The CAC will continue to focus on collecting toiletries this week and will plan to bag up gallon Ziploc bags and distribute them to the Red Cross.

Items still needed (packaged in gallon-sized Ziploc bags or Glad containers), in sample or small sizes, include:

deodorant, shave cream, feminine products, Band-aids and first aid kits, sewing kits, denture cream, toothpaste, toothbrushes and baby products (lotion, diapers, powder, shampoo, wipes).

Additionally, any kind of baby wipes, handi-wipes or cleaning wipes will be a big help since evacuated families have been ‘camped out’ for quite awhile.

You may also continue to make monetary donations directly through the following organizations:

American Red Cross

Online donation (credit cards accepted)

https://give.redcross.org/?hurricanemasthead

Or...call the Red Cross to donate at 1-800-HELP-NOW (1-800-435-7669).

Samaritan's Purse

Or...call Samaritan's Purse to donate at 1-800-567-8183.

As mentioned above, the Forsyth County Child Advocacy Center will continue to collect and collate toiletries for the victims and will then deliver packaged items to The Place, which is the local United Way agency in Forsyth County. The Place will furnish collected and collated goods to the American Red Cross.

The Place will also assist with collecting and collating food, clothes and necessities for the shelter that was set up on Friday in Hall County. Other than toiletry items, materials can be taken directly to The Place between 9am and 12 noon and 2-4pm. The Place is located off of exit 16 on Ga400; from the exit turn west onto Pilgrim Mill Road and then right on Antioch Road. The Place Drive is just ahead on the right. For more information, please call The Place at (770) 887-1098.

For more information on how you might volunteer or to make an appointment to donate goods to the Forsyth County Child Advocacy Center, please call Pat Plant at (678) 208-1908.

Thanks to all Forsyth County residents who have already donated food, toiletries and clothing to the various county agencies. Your generosity is very much appreciated by all.
