FOUR TEENS INJURED IN LATE-NIGHT WRECK

Four Forsyth County teenagers are lucky to be alive today after wrecking their late model Ford Sport-Trac.

The four, all of whom were transported to various hospitals, face charges of underage possession of alcohol, according to Sheriff’s Office Traffic Specialist Phil Alexander. Several bottles of vodka were found in the wrecked vehicle, Alexander said.

Alexander said the vehicle was west-bound on Matt Hwy. (Hwy. 369) near Coal Mountain School just after 11 p.m. when the driver lost control and left the roadway, causing the Sport-Trac to overturn several times. The driver, 18 year-old Douglas Houston McPherson of Cumming, was ejected. McPherson was the most seriously injured and was flown by helicopter to Gwinnett Medical Center. In addition to Underage Possession, McPherson was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Failure to Maintain Lane, and a seatbelt violation.

A passenger, Jeremy Campbell, age 18, of Cumming, was transported by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

A second passenger, Joshua Naylor, age 17, of Cumming, was transported by ambulance to Northside Forsyth Hospital in Cumming.

A third passenger, identified only as a 14 year-old female, was also transported to Northside Forsyth Hospital.

The medical conditions of all four are unknown at this time. It is not known if the males are students in Forsyth County. The 14 year-old is a student at a local middle school.
