GA DOT Construction Project to Begin on GA 400 in Fulton and Forsyth

The Georgia Department of Transportation will begin the limited repair and replacement of bridge joints on GA 400 following Labor Day 2004. The project will also include safety upgrades and the construction of a 12-foot concrete shoulder for bus travel. Scheduled completion date for the project is fall 2005.

  • The project will upgrade guardrails to existing safety standards and replace overhead signs with those that are highly-reflective for improved visibility.
  • The project will extend for 37 miles from Interstate 85 in Fulton County to State Route 306 in Forsyth County.
  • Department officials have limited lane closures to week nights and weekends only. During the week, lane closures should be expected from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m., Monday through Friday and Sunday night.
  • Lane closures should be expected from 8:00 p.m. through 3:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.
  • Crews will begin working at Haynes Bridge Road, proceeding south on GA 400 southbound.
  • Motorists are encouraged to slow down and drive carefully through the work zone.
  • There will be no construction during major holidays or during inclement weather.
  • Traffic delays are to be expected. Please plan to travel on alternate routes.
