I thought that this was worth passing on; perhaps it may keep someone from being scammed. Last week while my wife and I were away from the house, leaving my wife’s mother and nephew at home, two men appeared at the front door. At first, they said that they had broken down in front of the house and would give us a great deal on the pine straw he had on the trailer. When Debra’s Mom said she could not make that decision, one of them said that he had delivered pine straw in the past and that he was owed a check. This was not true but he tried to intimidate Deb’s mother into writing him a check before he would leave. Fortunately, our nephew was able to get Debra on the cell phone and she was able to persuade them to leave by threatening to call the police. They climbed into their truck (now suddenly unbroken) and drove away. Minutes later, they were parked across the street and telling our neighbor that they were broken down.etc.
I do not know if they were the same guys involved with the missing dog but they were running a scam and tried to take advantage of an elderly women by lying and trying to intimidate her. It would seem that these people are escalating their efforts from over charging for pine straw to something much more dangerous. Please be careful if you have any dealings with unsolicited pine straw vendors
