Police Officer Vehicle Accident

The Roswell Police Department is working a personal injury accident involving a City of Roswell Police Officer.

On Monday, May 22, 2006, at around 4:17 p.m., the Roswell Police Department dispatched a car to Mansell Road and Georgia Hwy. 9 in reference to a possible drunk driver. The vehicle, a white Mitsubishi Galant, was located at 10779 Alpharetta Hwy, in front of the Mama Fu's restaurant. At approximately 4:21p.m., a white male, David Abram Ziesel, got into the white Mitsubishi Galant and began to drive off. The officer noticed that the vehicle did not have a license tag displayed. The officer turned on his emergency equipment to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle refused to stop and started to gain speed. The officer radioed that he was in a pursuit of the vehicle.

The vehicle evaded several vehicles and began to go eastbound on Georgia Hwy. 140. As the vehicle was going east on Hwy. 140 Another police vehicle engaged the pursuit. This vehicle was several police cars behind the initial pursuit and was driven by Officer Josh Kimball.

At the intersection of Georgia Hwy. 140 eastbound and Riverwood Lane a westbound vehicle made a left turn from the westbound turn lane to go across Ga. 140. The trailing police unit, driven by Officer Kimball, struck the turning vehicle glancing off across the road flipping on its side. The officer was trapped in the vehicle for awhile but was extricated. The officer had minor injuries and was taken to the North Fulton Hospital and was released. The driver of the turning vehicle and the passenger were not hurt. The vehicle being pursued, driven by David Abram Ziesel, was stopped at the next intersection of Old Dogwood Road and Georgia Hwy. 140.

The driver of the turning vehicle, Antonio Jose Flores, was charged and arrested for no drivers license and was released on bond. The driver of the pursued vehicle was charged with 15 counts of traffic violations including Reckless Driving and DUI, The driver tested .105%.

The officer, Josh Kimball has been on the department since July 13, 2005. The accident is still under investigation.

 

 

Arrested:

Antonio Jose Flores-Ceron, H/M, 9/15/62, 43, 2100 Riverwood Lane, Roswell. No drivers license, BONDED OUT.

 

Arrested:

David Abram Ziesel, W/M, 6/9/79, 26, 856 Mimosa Blvd, Roswell. 15 traffic charges including Reckless Driving, DUI, NO BAIL.
