PRATTVILLE—For the second time this week, the Prattville Police Department has arrested a Georgia man on child sex charges, after luring him via computer.
Charles M. Ostheimer, 49, of Alpharetta Ga., was arrested Thursday night and charged with soliciting a child by computer, Capt. Albert Wadsworth said Friday.
Ostheimer was arrested after arriving at a local park to meet a fictitious 14-year-old girl, police said.
According to a police report, Ostheimer is the director of Atlanta-based LECG Inc., an international consulting company.
“His intent was to take a 14-year-old to a hotel for the night and have sex with her,” said Police Chief Alfred Wadsworth. “Instead he is in the Autauga Metro Jail with bond set at $100,000.”
Ostheimer remained in the metro jail Friday.
His arrest was the fourth the department has made in the past four months by using an officer posing as a teenager to communicate with what Wadsworth labels “sex predators."
Jason Earl Rogers, 29, of Newnan, Ga., was arrested Monday and faces charges of soliciting a child by computer and transmitting obscene material to a child by computer. He remained in jail Friday under $200,000 bond.
