Authorities have closed the southbound lanes of Ga. 400 and set up a detour after after an accident involving a tractor-trailer just before 3:30 p.m. near the Mansell Road exit. Apparently the tractor-trailor collided with an overrhead freeway sign above the highway.

It could be at least 10 p.m. before crews repair the damage to the overhead sign. Lengthy traffic backups have already been reported from the accident for commuters traveling on Georgia 400 through North Fulton County.

Cummuters are asked to take alternate routes, if possible, to avoid getting caught in the congestion and being forced to take detours in the vicinity of the accident.
