The Forsyth County Fire Department is holding a boot drive this weekend-- Friday afternoon, September 2, through Monday afternoon, September 5 – at various intersections throughout the county. All money raised will go to the Forsyth County Hurricane Shelter/Relief Fund to provide storm victims with basic necessities such as food, water and personal hygiene products. Checks for this effort should be made payable to the Forsyth County Hurricane Shelter/Relief Fund and may also be dropped off at any fire station.

Those wishing to donate "basic necessity" items may drop them off at any Forsyth County fire station and, beginning Tuesday, in a designated area in the foyer of the County Administration Building. Some of the items needed are:

Bottled water/bottled sports drinks

  • Non-perishable food items (that do not require the use of a can opener)

  • New wash cloths/towels

  • Small bottles/tubes of shampoo, baby shampoo, toothpaste and mouthwash

  • Dental floss

  • Soap

  • Deodorant

  • Tooth brushes

  • Disposable razors

  • Feminine hygiene products

  • Diapers and baby wipes

  • Prepared baby formula/jars of baby food

  • Large zip-lock bags (needed to assemble the items above)

The County thanks its citizens, in advance, for any assistance they might be able to provide.
