Crystal Loggins, Community Involvement Coordinator with the Cumming Wal-Mart, presented a $1,000 check to Forsyth County Sheriff Ted Paxton this week, accompanied by Russ Hilsher, Manager of the Wal-Mart store.

The Wal-Mart contribution was made to the Sheriff’s Office under Wal-Mart’s Safe Neighborhood Heroes 2005 program, which awards funds to local public safety agencies for them to use as they seem want to for public safety projects.

Nationwide, Wal-Mart and SAM’S CLUB facilities combined are donating more than $8 million to police teams, fire departments and emergency response units across the country. Through this grant, Wal-Mart has given more than $25 million since 2002 to safety teams.

“Wal-Mart has long been a great partner with us, through Shop-With-A-Cop and other programs” Sheriff Paxton said. “We appreciate their generosity in awarding this grant to us,” he added.

Sheriff Paxton said the donation will be used to fund the purchase of a third Automatic Electronic Defibrillator for the Sheriff’s Office.
