Alpharetta, GA…The City of Alpharetta Recreation and Parks Department received two state awards at the Georgia Recreation and Park Association (GRPA) Annual Conference held in Savannah, GA, November 7-9.

Alpharetta Recreation and Parks also received the “May is Older Americans Month” Award presented by GRPA Senior Adult Section. This award recognizes agencies who excel in providing year-round recreation and parks activities to senior populations. Lewis Lay, Recreation Supervisor II who oversees the Senior Activity Center at North Park, accepted the award on behalf of the Department.
Mayor Pro Tem Jim Paine, Council liaison to the Recreation and Parks Department, commented, “All of us are proud of the Department’s most recent recognition. The programs and services that our staff plan and organize reflect the Department’s mission in providing the highest quality recreational opportunities for our citizens.” Mike Perry, Director of Alpharetta Recreation and Parks, noted, “These awards validate the commitment to excellence by our staff, volunteers, elected and appointed officials, and the citizens who support our leisure programs and services.”
