As autumn arrives and we enjoy the fall festival of leaves and cooler breezes, there’s one thing you can be certain of…….roof rats and mice are changing habits also. They are preparing for winter by seeking entry into homes. Attics and drop ceilings are the two common areas where roof rats reside.
Many of you have had us come out to your homes and get rid of rats that have found their way inside. The problem is……they came from someone else’s house close by and, if we don’t locate those sources and deal with them, then you are going to be the target of more wandering rats in the future.
So: Check with your neighbors. Ask around. Be observant. Help us locate the source in your neighborhood and it will go a long way toward insuring that your home doesn’t get reinfested in the future!
Don’t forget:
If you have a fireplace and bring wood inside to burn….it is loaded with hibernating insects such as cockroaches and ants.
My Pest Advice:
Just bring inside what you are going to place on the fire. Don’t lay firewood aside indoors to burn later. All the little critters will awaken from their deep sleep and come crawling out inside your home and you will not be a happy camper!
