ATLANTA – The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), in conjunction with Georgia Regional Transportation Authority, will host the first round of public information open houses for its revive285 top end project. The first will be on Thursday, December 7th at the Chamblee Civic Center, 3450 Broad Street, Chamblee, GA 30341. The second open house will be held on Tuesday, December 12th at the Cobb Galleria Center, Two Galleria Parkway, Atlanta, GA 30339. Both meetings will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm.

Revive285 top end is an engineering study that will develop comprehensive long-range transportation solutions for the entire northern I-285 corridor between I-75 and I-85. The project will develop transportation alternatives needed for approval of an environmental document, which is required to advance the project to concept development and ultimately construction. The program, launched earlier this year, is anticipated to take approximately three years to complete.

The open houses are designed to offer the public an overview of the project’s scope, purpose, projected timeframes and next steps. The public also will have the opportunity to weigh in with issues or concerns related to the project corridor.

“These open houses are just one component of a larger public outreach program that we are undertaking for the revive285 project,” said Georgia DOT Communications Director Vicki Gavalas. “We recognize that we’re dealing with one of the most complex corridors in the state, and we want to hear from the users. Ensuring that the public understands exactly what we’re doing and is afforded plenty of opportunity to provide input is a big priority.”

Beyond these public meetings, a project website has been created. The site, www.revive285.com, includes a calendar of events, contact information for providing comments and requesting speakers from the project team, a message board related to the project corridor and detailed information on the project status and history.

The Georgia Department of Transportation is committed to providing a safe, seamless and sustainable transportation system that supports Georgia’s economy and is sensitive to both its citizens and its environment.
