ATLANTA, Ga.) – Georgia Medical Care Foundation (GMCF) announced today that it has been awarded Health Utilization Management accreditation from URAC, a Washington, DC-based health care accrediting organization that establishes quality standards for the health care industry.
URAC standards ensure that only appropriately trained, qualified clinical personnel conduct and oversee the utilization review process, that a reasonable and timely appeals process is in place, and that medical decisions are based on valid clinical criteria.
“GMCF is proud to have had its utilization management and medical review programs continuously accredited by URAC since 1996,” said Dennis L. White, GMCF’s Chief Executive Officer. “This most recent re-accreditation underscores our continued devotion to quality in everything we do.”
GMCF is a not-for-profit, physician-sponsored organization dedicated to continuously improving health care. In operation since 1970, GMCF provides innovative health care solutions focused on quality improvement, utilization management, medical review, and health care outcomes research.
