Roswell, GA (November 8, 2006)-The Historic Roswell Merchants' Association (HRMA) will hold the final 2006 Alive After Five event on Thursday, November 16 with a special holiday touch, the "Lighting of the Heart of Roswell" by Mayor Jere Wood. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with the lighting taking place at 6:30 p.m. To add to the spirit, candy canes and hot chocolate will be given out during the lighting ceremony.
"The HRMA is so excited to have the heart of Roswell Park lighted for the holiday season for the first time," explains Sally Johnson, President of HRMA. "The Historic Roswell business district welcomes so many local customers, as well as visitors, during the busy holiday season. The lighting of the park will add greatly to the holiday splendor of the historic district. We thank the City of Roswell, and particularly Mayor Wood, for their collaboration in making this happen."
The Alive After Five series began in August 2005 and has become a major event for the downtown historic district, growing in attendance each month. Series events include live entertainment and feature shopping and dining discounts and specials. Free trolley service provides transport throughout the district and balloons on lamp posts add to the festive atmosphere. The Alive After Five 2007 series will resume on the third Thursday of April and run through November.
