His vision and his boldness shaped our Nation and changed the world for the better

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Herman Cain issued the following after the passing of President Ronald Reagan:

“I offer my prayers and condolences to his wife, Nancy, and the Reagan family. Today, America mourns the loss of a great leader. President Reagan was a true leader, taking people where they would not go by themselves. His vision and his boldness shaped our Nation and changed the world for the better. He took a country that was without hope and he showed the American people the greatness of our Nation and what it could become.

“President Reagan was a giant. He gave Americans a sense of pride. His message of hope and freedom helped spread democracy around the world. He made the seemingly-impossible, possible: ending the Cold War and lifting our Nation out of economic turmoil.

“While we mourn the passing of President Reagan, we can be comforted by the knowledge that as a man of faith, the best is yet to come for him. A hero, a great communicator and a great leader, our former President changed the face of this Nation forever. In taking people where they would not go by themselves, he changed the face of the world. As we say good-bye, we also say thank you. God bless Ronald Reagan.”
