Roswell, GA (November 21, 2006)-The City of Roswell will host two Public Information Open Houses regarding the Midtown Roswell Streetscape Project on Tuesday, December 5 and Thursday, December 14 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Roswell City Hall. Both meetings will be similar in content and will include a brief presentation at 6 p.m.
The purpose of the open house is to explain the project and how it will affect property owners along the route. City staff and consultants will be available to answer specific questions about the project. The City is encouraging property owners to participate in one of the open house forums.
The Midtown Roswell Streetscape Project is intended to enhance the economic vitality and appearance of the Alpharetta Street corridor from Norcross Street northward to Mansell Circle. The project consists of rebuilding sidewalks, driveways, curbs and drainage systems along the roadside to provide more room for pedestrians and landscaping. Work on the highway will include a slight narrowing of the travel lanes and the addition of a few landscaped islands in the center turn lane.
In 2003, Roswell was awarded over $2 million through the Atlanta Regional Commission's Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) to undertake improvements to the Midtown Roswell corridor along Highway 9 from Norcross Street to Holcomb Bridge Road.
