The Fulton County Board of Education will hold its monthly meetings on Tuesday, December 5, and Thursday, December 14. Click here to access meeting agendas. Included in this month’s agenda is a resolution to hold a referendum on continuation of the one-cent special purpose local option sales tax (SPLOST).

Preceding the December 14 meeting, Oaths of Office will be issued to Julia Bernath, Katie Reeves, Ashley Widener and Catherine Maddox, all of whom begin new Board terms on January 1, 2007.

All Fulton School Board meetings now can be watched live from a computer screen thanks to new videostreaming technology used by the Fulton County School System. Viewers must have Windows Media Player loaded on their computer to view live meetings or archived files. The web address is http://www.fultonschools.org/dept/broadcast/fcboemeetings.htm. Viewers also can access the files under “Streaming Video,” located in the “Board” section along the top navigation bar of the school system’s web site.

The Fulton County School System uses BoardDocs, a program that makes the School Board agenda and all supporting documents available online. The initiative improves information efficiency and access to members of the community by posting agenda items online.

The Superintendent and each Board member have a laptop computer at his or her seat at the Board table, and members of the audience are encouraged to bring their own laptops to follow along. The meeting locations are equipped with wireless technology that allows access to the Internet and the BoardDocs agenda site; however, each laptop must have supporting wireless software in order to be connected to the wireless network.

All meetings of the Board are open to the public unless designated as Executive Session, where the School Board must convene in private to discuss land, legal, and/or personnel items.
