State Bridge Road Update

Great news! You may have already noticed that the contractor opened all of the lanes on State Bridge yesterday. They plan to open everything on Jones Bridge in the next day or two.

Keep in mind that this project is not complete. The actual completion date is not until July 1, 2007. You will still see some work going on after the first of the year (not much will happen between Christmas Day and New Years Day).

Also – let me explain a few things about what is left to do.

Signal timing – The signals are not synchronized because they are not connected to each other yet – they will be. But, at this point in time, they may not be perfectly timed. We are aware of this and we are working on this connectivity.

Paving – With the upcoming holidays and the likelihood of some cold weather (maybe), the contractor has elected to wait until spring to put the final layer of asphalt down. This is a good thing – why? – Because it will take less time in the warmer temperatures and that means a shorter duration for the lane closures that will be required to pave it.

Striping – Obviously, we can’t put the final striping down until all of the asphalt is down. This will also require some lane closures.

This will probably be the last update for a while. I’ll send something out about the final asphalt topping.

By the way, I have attached a press release that will be going out to the media later today.

Regards,
