Tim Gaffney, a member of the Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors, recently earned the prestigious Certified WorkComp Advisor designation, conferred by the Institute of WorkComp Professionals. Mr. Gaffney is a Business Insurance Problem Solver for Gillman Insurance in Alpharetta.
The certification program provided by the Institute trains insurance professionals to locate costly errors in Workers’ Compensation coverage and is essential in reviewing Workers’ Compensation insurance reports. “With this certification and my thirty years of experience, I now have the background and training to assist companies in gaining refunds and correcting what could be unnecessary, costly mistakes” says Gaffney.
According to Preston Diamond, president of the Institute of WorkComp Professionals, Workers’ Compensation insurance differs from other types of insurance coverage in that it is very difficult for most insurance agents to detect errors. “Unless the insurance agent has the necessary training to locate and correct the errors in Workers’ Compensation coverage, the problems may go undetected for years. As a result, business owners could end up paying higher premiums than required until the error is detected,” says Diamond.
Gillman Insurance Group was established in 1993 by Ed Gillman and Tim Gaffney. They recently created a new division, Georgia Workers Compensation Solutions, dedicated to helping businesses with 20 to 250 employees manage their Workers Compensation process in the same way they manage any other process in their business. Currently, there are approximately 300 insurance agencies in the United States that have staff members who have qualified for the Certified WorkComp Advisor designation. Gaffney is the first Certified WorkComp Advisor at Gillman Insurance and the only one in the North Fulton area.
